So at long last a GP referred me to the local mental health team yesterday felt relived that someone at last is listening to me and a referral of some sort has been made. But now i sit hear wondering where the referral has gone, who i will see a psychiatrist or a psychologist or someone else intirly, my area does not have any adult adhd specialists so i have no idea whats gonna happen next? Also how long does it normally take for the referral to come thorough? how long should i leave it before i start chasing it up as i am very impatient but don't want to annoy them to early And when i do finally get a appointment what should i expect?

Local MH team is usually a MH nurse or consultant psychiatrist though a few areas use psychologists. It's secondary level care and ADHD is normally a tertiary level item so you're looking to be referred upwards.
Referrals are in standard NHS range ie frequently a lot longer than you'd think reasonable.
Since the NHS is nowhere near National any more (postcode lottery applies) there are no fixed answers so your experience can vary from good to miserable according to local conditions - and even someone local can have a very different experience since the service/staffing levels change quickly.
I'm sorry to be vague but that's how ridiculous our services are.

I had a psychologist for my NHS assessment... Guess that's why they screwed up the diagnosis

Psychologists are fine - assessments are screwed up by underqualified/incompetent staff.
A specialist ADHD psychologist is MUCH better than a consultant psychiatrist.
