I have been trying to get hold of my dr or at least someone on his team for nearly 3 weeks. They never return my calls. I found out today that there's no record I ever even called. So I cancelled all my appointments, told them never to contact me again, and then shredded all of their contact details.
I think I did the right thing. I can't see this being a bad decision at all...

I can understand why you reacted like that, although my Dr is absolutely brill at returning my calls and sending letters quickly ect ect.... my son's pead is apailing never returns my calls and takes him months to contact gp about prescription details so I had to struggle all summer with no help and no med increase when you calm down I'm sure things will be a lot clearer and you can make a decision on where to go from here.

Oh firstinflight, I know that frustration very well. hai1988 has the right of it of course. See how it feels later. No way you'll regret it though. After all, no point in regrets. Besides, we live in a modern age. You can track the details down again if you need to and just explain the truth of it. Whoever deals with the calls might not give a monkeys arse, but you dont need to please anyone. It's utter pigear that anyone needs to work that hard for help. (Who knows, you might even have a giggle about it later.)

I turned up today for my appointment and the person was off sick. No-one called or let me know, so that was a complete wasted journey. And then the receptionist had the nerve to start asking probing questions about why I was even there in the first place. I'm done with these people, they can all go fuck themselves as far as i'm concerned. I know nobody's perfect, but would a basic level of competence be too much to ask?

Hi firstinflight
I can well understand why your frustration got the better of you and you "dis engaged" from the service a few weeks ago, but glad to hear you are back in the system.
The fact you have made many tel calls to your Dr and received no call back is very frustrating. The fact none of your calls were recorded is extremely bad practice. Having turned up for another appointment only to find the person you have to see is off sick and nobody thought to contact you, really requires an official complaint to be made.
I know that's not easy (getting organised to do it and follow through) and also wondering whether or not your future treatment might be compromised because of your complaint. Complaint procedures are there for a purpose a) to investigate and resolve a patients complaint and b) for the Trust to record/assess and put in place procedures/training which will reduce this type of complaint being repeated.
For Trust's to improve their service to Users, they should actively seek complaints - it's the only way they are going to make services "fit for purpose" Not sure I'm saying something you want to hear - it probably is just another item to add to your "to do list" - but I'm mad on your behalf, if that's any consolation.

Well I would if it seemed like it'd make the slightest difference, but it's obvious they just don't care. To try and start a complaint would take a huge piece out of me personally, and it wouldn't improve my life in any measurable way. Sorry if that's selfish.

firstinflight, you can be as selfish as you need to be. They've made you feel there's no point. Trying to get help is hard enough without being subjected to ignorant behavior and completely disregarded. Like annie said, I'm annoyed on your behalf too. It's wrong. An absolute box of twattlewodded cadgenought. Worse even.
I recently made a complaint about my local practice. I doubt anything will come of it but it did feel good to purge my vitriol in their direction, especially when it was only a matter of facts. Whatever you do, or don't do, don't give up on you and your ability to find something. There's at least a lot of good fodder round these parts to start with.
Good luck. x

Have you tried NHS PALS? It's not a complaint but more of a negotiating service to sort out problems. Contacting them and telling them your problems with the service would be easier than continually waiting and being frustrated by their incompetence.

...and now I've been declared unfit for work by the occupational health people. Seriously, I've had it with all of these fucking doctors.
