I've struggled for years to remember peoples names when my friends and family talk about other friends and family. I can't remember there names until I've met them at least once.
I have a lot of family I've never met and until I've met them I can't seem to "save" their name along with their face in my mind.
The same goes with friends of friends - is this an ADHD or autism or just human nature thing?
I think it's ADHD as the Attention Deficit is linked to memory, but I can't be sure.

It takes me a ridicules long time with names (months!) and faces are just horribly difficult (like I can't barely remember my parents faces). I remember we had this task in preschool where we had to find pictures in magazines and cut out people who looked like our family, I thought I did a really good job, but I will never ever forget the confused face of the teacher when I presented my work...

Me too. I also seem to have a problem recognising some people when I see them in a different situation or context

I'm terrible with names / faces too.... I can't watch films easily because of this - they all look the same to me. I think they should make a films where every key character has a different and very distinctive ethnic background!

I’m useless with names, new and old, faces I can remember even if I have only seen that face once, but not remember where I have seen that face.
Directions I’m odd, say if I was going to the coast, go in the right direction to start with is hard, once I’m say 5 miles in to the drive I’m fine, even if I have only done that route once. It seems the closer I am to home the harder I find it!

I don't even bother trying to commit a name to memory now on first meeting someone. It just isn't going to happen unless they do something to make them particularly memorable.
I also really struggle to place someone when I see them in a place that I wouldn't usually and often find myself thinking 'where do I know him/her from?'
Terrible at remembering names long term as well. Today I was having a conversation at work and someone agreed to do something for me that I had to let the boss know about, the conversation took place right in front of him so I thought I'd got away with not remembering the name of the guy who was doing me a favour, but I think the boss deliberately stitched me up having realised I'd forgotten his name by excessive use of 'mate' and asked who was doing the favour.
First I pointed, then said Mr.....thinking I'd remember his surname, then picked the surname of a different coworker that began with the same letter (result!). To be fair I've only worked with this guy for about six years, awkward!
