I'm wondering if this is an ADD trait, if i'm actually experiencing this... or if i'm just going outright crazy! There's been a few instances throughout my life now where things have happened or conversations have taken place and when i've attempted to recall it back with other people involved, their version will be different. But, no matter what, or how hard I try to remember it like they did, i'm only able to recall my version, and it sometimes leads to conflict, me very emotional about it from feeling like a liar and i feel really confused! I dont even know if this is whats happening? Maybe I am recalling things exactly how they happened and it's other people lying to me when they recall it or they arent able to recall it exactly like i am. But surely... unrelated people and unrelated instances that happen regularly cant all be coincidences... can they? 0_o am i going insane?

I think it is fairly common, isn't it, for people to recall the same events very differently. I'm sure I have read pop-psychology stuff about this kind of phenomenon. It's not necessarily the case that anyone is lying; our memories simply play tricks on us sometimes, or we process the same event differently depending on our own perspectives, emotions, etc at the time.
What might be an ADHD symptom is the very emotional way that you react to a situation where you feel that you are being called a liar. I think the ability to respond with extreme emotion, and for our moods to switch quickly, according to daily events, is something that troubles quite a few of us.

Aha! I'm not crazy!! I just feel like I should know if I'm not recalling things as they should though?
Well, obviously I didn't hold a fairy when I was a kid :/ it's a memory that feels so real!!
The heightened emotions thing is a biggy though.

Reality is always open to debate anyway. How can you be so sure that the other version is the right one? Maybe you both recall it different to how it was?
I have similar issues but I have found what annoys me most about it is that I am left with a distinct impression of what happened, but lack the ability to offer "quotes" and thus the other person feels vindicated and triumphant and sure they are right.
The heightened emotions suck! Do you ever find it difficult to recall the difference between dream and memory? That's a biggie for me sometimes.

I can spend most a day trying to figure out if an event actually happened and who was involved or if it was a dream or I imagined it!

I saw a car that had crashed, upside down in a ditch, the car was all crumpled and the windows were smashed, the air freshener was swinging around in the breeze.
I remember it very clearly.
I told my brother, and he immediately pulled me up on the fact that the car was upside down AND the air freshener was swinging around.
I swear both of those things were true, but they couldn't be! I have no idea which was correct.
I make a point of trying not to tell lies because I have enough trouble recalling what ACTUALLY has happened without adding fiction to the mix!

And annoyingly, because I get flustered when trying to recall reason/logic/words exchanged I always feel like I seem more like I'm lying anyway. Sometimes I think I do tell little lies. Inconsequential things which fill out the story which in the moment of recall I think is in the same narrative. Occasionally later to discover when I replay something in my head, that such and such either happened in a different but similar situation. Or... I dreamt it. Then I cringe. I'm like a fisherman!

The long process of formal diagnosis starts tomorrow. Dreading it.

If I were to ask this question it would be 'inability to recall events - period'. I had a dream of sitting my grandchildren (yet to be born!) on my knee and telling them tales of their parent when s/he was a child. I now realise this will never happen, as I can barely remember the last 30 years at all. I have just accepted that if I really want to remember an event, I need a photograph and notes. So I try (not terribly successfully as yet) to keep a diary with photos, so that I have half a chance in the years to come. When I had a real job, I always kept a notebook with me and made notes at meetings, notes of phone calls etc, just so I would not be caught out. Reading them later was always fun. Technical notes, then an idea for a magic trick, more technical notes, a note to 'for God's sake remember to book the MOT', technical notes etc etc, as the sparkle brain bounced around. It really did help though

I've had this issue quite a few times where my memory of things events have been completely different to others. Where I'd swear blind my version was correct so much so I'd put money on it! So have been out of pocket a few times! So stopped backing my memory financialy and now just listen more and argue less about my version!

Im the total opposite actualy, I recall the wording spot on for the most part if.its smthing significant enough to stick in my mind, im the same with certain statistics aswell (bit of.a research junkie). My long term memory is excellent, my prpblem is more how.little I recall if I dont have details burned into.my brain in the way these type of facts tend to, I litteraly loose all memory other than the general feeling which leaves a strange spacey disorientated feeling
