I have a "slight" obsession with notebooks and diaries, electronic and paper and have developed quite a collection. In an age where there are multiple techniques and technologies in which to organise ones life I find myself spending more time acquiring the knowledge or buying the latest tool that i don't actually get to the part where I organise my life.
I am like this at work which is why I miss many items on my to do list only to be reminded by my boss "have you done that thing I asked...", this does not bode well for my annual review, luckily i've got a great smile and a fun personality so he just tells me to "make sure you write it down next time silly" then asks me to get his pen from under his bookshelf as he has bad knees. It's weird it always falls and rolls right under the bookshelf where i have to bend down on my hands and knees to get it - and he calls me silly!
I am asking this question as i have been gifted a beautiful leather filofax for christmas yet I currently use the calender in my phone, efficient as it is (alarms, multiple views, multiple entries) i have a beautiful shiny new filofax and i am paralysed with uncertainty of where to go from here. So to take my mind away from this immense life or death dilema please tell me how you manage to organise your lives.
Thanks

In short,
I don't!
I haven't found a way that I can keep up with. I kind of organise my life by trying not to have much going on!

That is somewhat true of me, my personal life is desolate (friends = my cats). I just need to encorporate this into my working life.
i remember at one point looking through my calendar and the only entries were psychiatrist appointments, ah the simple life....

At work - very detailed (when I can remember, obviously) Outlook calendar with reminders and daily tasks lists (including a daily prompt to update the list). Also have a back up excel database of all work and deadlines.
At home - Google Calendar that I and friends/family share to update and schedule what is necessary. Made much easier by the Google calendar app on my android phone.

I'd like to tell u with ease and a step by step regime , but in realtiy I don't, plain and simple and guess wat not much happens, without organisation its all down to impulsive decisions it is extremely frustrating and goals are harder achieved if at all because of the time wasted not being organised

Wunderlist My life would fall apart completely without it. It's incredibly simple to use, no big instructions to understand or follow. It works on, and automatically syncs with everything - iOS, android, mac and pc. These are the main reasons I've stuck with this above any other. You can use one big list or have several (for work, home etc). You can set due dates, reminders, alarms etc as well as 'starring' something for top priority. You can sort by starred items, due dates, due today, this week, this month etc. I also have shared lists on it with my children - which also automatically sync to all their devices. You can also email or print your lists if you want to tick stuff off on paper. And you can forward important emails to the app to remind you to put them on your to do list. And it's free

The beautiful binding and smooth leather made me buckle, i've adopated the filofax method. I'll continue to use outlook at work for daily tasks and a project management tool for complex projects. This may change as i'm fickle like a 3 yr old.

I honestly don't know. I have no idea how any of you guys manage to write lists, let alone keep them and live by them. I used to be a project manager, this was way back before I knew I had adhd... all I can say is I look back and shudder at what people must have thought.

I honestly don't know. I have no idea how any of you guys manage to write lists, let alone keep them and live by them. I've thought this on several occasions! I understand it must take so much willpower and a good dollop of bloody-mindedness to get it started. I think after enough time it must become routine, and autopilot kicks in.. But until that time.. I do admire anyone who can start and keep up a new routine. Seems the only routine I can manage is getting to and from work. I can't even get into a routine for SLEEP! SLEEP!!

I wdnt say I have any routine, if I think of amthing I need to do I add it to memos in fone while panicing I might forget it before its writen. I might manage once every couple of mths to add it to my folder.
My oh promts/reminds me for sm stuff. I ask him repeatedly to remind me because I forget iv already asked him 5mibs ago.... Wdnt call that a routine, semi functioning semi dysfunctional pattern maybe. Duno
