I think this would really help - an automatic hello with the key things you need to know and pointers for where to go and look.

Hehe contrarymary, I can imagine since you've been around for a while it must feel that way. I reckon you're right petra but I don't know how well it would work, you'd practically have to write a whole book about it It doesn't surprise me in the slightest because the forum is too big and has too many sections that if you have AADD you probably will find it hard to navigate or keep track of the whole lot. I know I've likely re-asked a bunch of stuff but I wouldn't even know where to start trying to find things around here!

If one is written it will be considered.
I cannot guarantee it will be used (and you might be severely peeved if we don't use it or edit it a lot).

This is the sort of thing I had in mind. If it can be added to, edited, improved then great.
Hi and a very warm welcome to AADD-UK's Forum,
Whether you are new to adult adhd or this is the first forum you have joined things can all seem a little overwhelming. So, we've put together a few links here to help you feel settled and familiarise you with some of the key places to look.
Please feel free to introduce yourself in the introduction area here (link) and/or if you have a specific question to begin a new topic.
Although we are a very friendly and helpful bunch we do all have adhd, so sometimes it can take a little while before you will receive a reply. This is in no way personal, and in the mean time if you use the search facility (link) it is very likely you will find relevant information from previous posts.
For faqs go here (link)
Feel free to spend time looking through the forum, and we look forward to getting to know you more.

Petra, that sounds great to me. I originally signed up some time ago and found the site both reassuring and helpful - but it does feel a bit of a minefield at times trying to locate things.* I received (I think!) a warm welcome almost straight away when I posted for the first time this weekend, which felt lovely - but to have had a welcome, with relevant info, when I first joined would have really helped, and encouraged me to post earlier.
*If you do set this up, please can you explain how to add your postcode to the members' map? I've seen Random's posting, but cannot find any way to PM her with my details. #feelingstupid
