Hello, I wondered if anyone else here has a Hypermobility Syndrome, or undiagnosed but 'double-jointed'? There's been some research to suggest that it's more common in people with ADD than in the general population.

hi vagueandrandom there are a few people who have talked about this before, including some who have been diagnosed with specific conditions. i have a degree of hypermobility, some of which is quite disabling, but not been assessed. (too many other issues?!) may be worth having a look through the Search function (top of page in green bit) to look for previous threads on the topic? and welcome

Hi contrarymary
I've had a look. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Hypermobility Type which I've only just had formally diagnosed as I've started to have a few problems. In reading up about it there is some evidence of a link with ADD, which I've been semi-diagnosed with and am having problems getting properly assessed.
Thanks for your reply.

If it helps , I'm about as flexible as a barbie doll with both legs bound by an elastic band.
Ps I hang my head in shame at the lack of witty insightfulness of my comment. Needless to say, I can't do the splits, even after a good night out!

My thumbs are bendy? Like they bend backwards. They can both form right-angles, backwards. It looks a bit weird - and they're MY thumbs!! But sadly, like Foxtrot not bendy anywhere else I can touch my knees? But not my toes. Not without snapping some tendons and shiz! Xx Bee xX

Yeah i have ed/hypermobility syndrom
theres a high comorbid between this and all developmental disorders
The pain clinic consultant i see was saying its because all of the hypermobility syndroms are actualy neurological problems, the part of the brain that shd tell our bodies to uptake collegen, or make collegen from our diet doesnt work properly, so we end up with not enough collegen in joint tidsue, viens, skin etc etc and this nueological mix up is closely linked to many developemental dusorder

My toes are v bendy. Never thought about it as hypermobility. When I compare my toes to most other people's they lie flat down stick out from my feet like piglets in a row suckling on a sow! I find walking any distance bloody painful and only relieved by scrunching my toes up like I am wearing a pair of Dr Scholl's clogs.. ooh I used to love my clogs and my clog sandals!!

I have super bendy fingers, I can't open jars or bottles and that one time I tried shot put my hand just bent backwards, it just doesn't work. My knee doctor says I have unusually bendy knees and ankles. Everything else is stiff as a board.
