Recently, I started struggling with my Concerta pill routine. My GP intervened. He started by issuing me with only 7 days of Concerta XL 36 mg. So I had to see him every week for another prescription. The Concerta 36 mg has provided some benefit, up to a point.
The GP has been concerned with my levels of anxiety (I won't go into the episodes here). My GP is also aware that the ADHD specialist doctor decided to refer me for an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) assessment. The specialist said he was "pretty sure" I was on the ASD scale. The ASD assessment is likely to be in February 2016.
Saw my GP last Friday. And a psychologist, too (which my GP previously arranged). So Concerta has been increased to 72mg. And for anxiety, GP decided prescribe Olanzapine 2.5 mg (max dose is 20 mg). I'm taking the Olanzapine in the morning along with Concerta. The Olanzapine takes time to build up. 3-4 days, with full benefit after 2-4 weeks. It's an antipsychotic used for mood, anxiety and schizophrenia. I've been taking it for 3 days now.
I'm now aware that I'm taking 4 sets of pills: Concerta (72 mg) and Olanzapine in the morning and Mirtazpine (30mg) Amlodipine (for blood pressure) before bedtime.
Has anyone else had experience of taking Olanzapine ?

Have you been on mirtazapine? Yes and I am still taking mirtazapine (30mg). I take them about an hour before bedtime. They reduce anxiety and help me sleep. Been taking them for a year. I take the Concerta (72 mg) and Olanzapine (2.5 mg) in the morning.

High blood pressure and stims does not seem like a great combo. What is your age and how is your general health? In most situations you should be able to improve your health to the extent you don't need the amlodipine. As you get older things are only going to get worse, so whatever your age you should make an effort tot fix this.
In regards to Olanzapine, I know two people with anxiety & schizo type issues who have done extremely well on it. But neither was on concerta, and it will be hard to find reliable information from other people who have been on that combo. Better to refer to expertise/experience of your psychiatrist I suppose.

I am 48. A few weeks ago, I stopped smoking. I averaged 10 per day. Since early June 2015, I've also moderated my alcohol consumption to about 5-10 units per week. I'm average height and weigh 75kg. My BMI is 25. I've cycled to work all my adult life. My current commute on my bicycle is about an hour round trip. Generally, I make sure I eat 5 portions of fruit and veg.
Last September, I worn a 24 hr blood pressure cuff. As a result, the doctor decided to put me on Amlodipine 5mg. I have home blood pressure reader. Currently 140/88.
I agree with you. There's little or no information about combining Concerta and Olanzapine.
Between regular GP visits, I'm keeping a diary recording blood pressure and changes mental well being linked to the prescriptions. I'm also recording my pill routine.
This may seem regimental. But I've had some difficult mental health episodes recently. The GP intervened and has been very good.

I would have thought high bp & anxiety would be indications concherta isn't right for you. Have you tried strattera? Orany otgothers?
Olazapine is a heavy going drug and using it just so they can up your choncherta seems unusal. Best of luck with sorting out what works for you, but don't hesitate to speak up if you get side effects from olazapine.

He's seeing me every 2 weeks. I'm keeping a diary recording mental well being, alcohol consumption, blood pressure and pill routine, which I send to him. I've been on 72 mg of Concerta before, but I struggled with the routine. This time around and with the GP's help, I am having more success. It's been a week on the Concerta 72 mg dose, and my general focus and productivity has approved. Olanzapine may be starting to work: the mood swings and manic episodes have reduced. I'm also sticking with the evening dose of mirtazapine, which relaxes me and helps me go to sleep. Mirtazapine, Concerta and Olanzapine is heavy duty. I'm sticking with this. I do not want to go to hospital again.

Went to the GP last night for a discussion on the Concerta (2 x 36mg)and Olanzapine (1 x 2.5 mg) combination. I've certainly noticed an improvement with fewer mood swings and more calm. He'll increase the Olanzapine to 1 x 5.0 mg. I'll see him again in a fortnight, to evaluate if the increased Olanzapine dose has been effective.

Hi there,
Yes I am on Olanzipine 5mg and Concerta XL 36mg.. I take the Concerta in the morning and the Olanzipine of a night.. I have been on Olanzipine for over 8yrs and would never dream of taking them in the daytime as its has a tranquiliser in it which can severely affect your motor functions during the day.. by taking at night it helps aid my sleep and doesn't effect me in the daytime.. Concerta to wake up, Olanzipine to sleep..
