Just a bit of lighthearted fun....... Why did you choose your username? And whose username do you like best? Easy one first. mrsmuddle - what a cracking name. And planetdave (one word, no capitals ) is a nickname given to me by a band I used to roady for. They were doing an audition for a record company and things were tense. I piped up with a proper ADHD(undiagnosed) off-the-wall joke/observation that I thought hilarious and went WHOOSH! over everyone elses head. It brought the room to a grinding halt and the bass player turned to me and said 'What planet are you from, Dave?'. The guitarist said 'Yeah, planetdave. Which planet are you from?' And it stuck.

Hi planetdave,
That is a funny story ;D
I'm afraid my username has a "show-off" element. In junior school I was a complete dunce at arithmetic (didn't know my times table, couldn't tell the time, counted on my fingers etc) but while my classmates were reading "Janet and John," I was reading the children's version of the "Song of Roland" and learning about Roland, Charlemagne, and the battle against the Saracens under the hot Spanish sun (wonderful escapist stuff)!

I'm just looking at the last post and thinking 'If Lily is the cat and she signs of with an 'x' that means an 'x' with stinky cat breath'.
Euew!
Now there's logic for you! ;D

My name came from playing online games with my mates when I lived in Madrid. Its an abbreviation of Madrid Scotsman, and has absolutely nothing to do with my state of mind

Ever since I was little my family have nicknamed me "annie with the banner" - I always seemed to be taking up arms for some underdog cause!!
When I was about 7 my older brother was being bullied because he had to temporarily wear a caliper on his leg. This big, rather overweight farmers son was leaning up against a wall mocking him. So being half his size I put my head down and just charged him, hitting him full in the middle of his stomach, leaving him totally winded. I then legged it over the wall and across the fields!!
Later that night we had a visit from the local bobby who came to talk to me about the assault. I think it was all a bit tongue in cheek!!
I haven't got a favourite name on here but I do so like the shoter ones - much less typing!

good one planetdave! this is a really interesting thread! madrid scotsman, lily the cat, song of roland... i'd never have guessed any of these! annie, i wish i could watch a video of you charging the fat bully! awesome! my one's a bit less inventive, because of having undiagnosed ADHD through school etc. i ended up with really low self esteem, when i was joining here, i was going to call myself MrLate&Forgetful or something, but i gave myself a slap, and decided to NEVER be negative about myself ever again! so i decided on MarvelousMatt, 'cos my name's matt... and i'm pretty darn marvelous! ;D -m

Thank you so much Planetdave... This gives me a chance to explain to you all why I am not 'shelalovescharly' anymore.. Well, madscot... (the quiet one!!) pointed out to me that he thought I had a coke habit!!.. so here is my opportunity to tell you that my partner is actually called Charlie..and that was just me acting 14 instead of nearly 44 with the name..!!.. anyway.. now you know..and Tequila is kinda 'cos of the whole Tequila/Sheila thing..but...also 'cos Tequila features in one of my fav memories. 'Years ago my best friend decided we needed to have a party and we should have it at my house!! Also that it should have a theme and it should be a film... her fav and mine was 'Practical magic' so we got the witches costumes sorted out and as my then 5 year old would be there she was dressed up as an angel. We had a great feed of chili and loads of wine and music and it was going well. Then at a point when we had had too much wine, we decided to go to the bar. My friend had a 6 week old baby girl so we put her into my daughters silver cross dolls pram and 6 witches and an angel and a baby in a dolls pram headed to the pub. When we got there we realised we had no money, but never one to be stuck I went round the bar with the pram and asked all the locals for a 'penny for the guy'??. This went well till the baby moved and one old guy nearly had a heart attack!! But we made a fortune and drank gin and tonics with the calley dosh and then all headed home to party. Now in the film they all dance round the table with Midnight Margaritas and we had the whole tequila and Cointreau and the lime ready and we did the salt round the rim of the glass thing. The film was playing and the cd was on and we were all laughing so much and very merry but when it came to drinking the margaritas we all went 'uuugh' at the same time and left them on the table.. So, later on Silvia who was at the party decided to confide in us that she has always wanted to be with a Black Irish Man!!.. Now I can't say I have ever notice any in the village but I was at the stage that night of needing to go for a wander so Nicky and i headed to the bar again incase we had over looked something, (like a black Irish man).. (can i say that??) There was no-one obvious to us, but not to be out done we made everyone in the bar try an Irish accent..One guy was not bad and the fact that he was called 'strawberry' didn't put us off either. We just took him back and painted him black with children's face paints..we stuck a rose between his teeth and proudly presented him to Silv. It took her a min or two.. (nothing to do with the wine either!!) to get it but boy when she did, did they have fun!!... then when i next turned round, Strawberry was out cold on the carpet...and at this point we realised that ALL the Midnight Margaritas glasses were empty!!... So in true to the film behavior, we dragged him to the nearest laybye,, (yes I know!!) and we left him there.. We partied on till dawn and two of the girl walked home 2.5 miles in the dark and Silvia .. ( a townie) wearing 6 inch boots kept threatening to sleep at the side of the road...It took them hours to get back...Next morning when I woke I bolted to the lay-bye not knowing what to expect but thank g*d he was gone and as far as I know he is still alive!! My friend had to go out for lunch the next day with her husband's family but she could not face food....She tells me that she had to go to the toilet to be sick.. (for the 100th time in 12 hours) and when she got there she puked up one whole and perfect kidney bean!!??... When my now ex husband got home from night shift he went ballistic and it took him hours to put all his Cd's back in the cases...haha!!...They were the only other thing in the house he cared about apart from his daughter!! The pub and villagers will never forget the night 6 witches, an angel and a real baby went wandering!!' Tequila...

Fantastic thread Dave. Hey its probably better on your planet anyway. MadScot I thought it was cause you were mad, now I know. But I think we should call you naughty like Sherry said! Shela, what can I say, I must be innocent cause I assumed Charly was your boyfriend. As for the tequila, well, many happy nights. Matt that's good to be positive. Just remember its all the rest of the world that's odd and we are all normal :-) Roland, I never ever would have guessed. I thought you were a Roland Rat fan!!! woops. Lily, I see your cat breath and send you wet dog smell! Annie, I will remember not to cross you I am glad you are on our side. Mrs Muddle I love that name. Twix is what my little brother used to call me when we were kids, no idea why. I do love chocolate too though.

Its interesting to see inside peoples' lives and find out where their user names come from! Mine came from when I was trying to think up a name for a band I had when I was in college. I got a load of scraps of paper and wrote a random word on each and pulled some out of a hat, Lemonsnake was one of the combinations that came out. My bandmates thought it sounded a bit too metal so I kept it for my screen name!

I used to be Glorioustwelfth (on other sites) as my birthday is 12th August aka The Glorious Twelfth /the start of the grouse shooting season. Also was quite apt as I can be a huge grouse myself... but I opted for Mouse as that suited my state of mind at the time of registering on this and other sites. I think I was more subdued whilst getting to grips with dx of ADD.
Also considering 'Worm' as in ' the worm is turning!'
Or 'TrickyDog' - because apparently you can teach an old dog new tricks!!

i like mouse, it sounds sweet, but then i've always like mice! i had a mouse that used to come in my kitchen late at night and peer out at me when i was watching telly. i'd look back at him, we'd just sit there for ages looking at each other, i always wondered what he was thinking. i caught him and released him in a park a few blocks away, but i kinda missed him after that. -m

Barlennan is a character from a fifties sci-fi book called "Mission of Gravity"; He's an alien centipede! I chose it because, in the book, he has to explore new territory and learn a whole new way of seeing his world.

Right, alrigggggghty then.
I chose my name for the following reasons. 1) I don't seem to have any nicknames like you lot. 2) It was extremely quick and easy and the last thing I need is for new forums to take more than 16.2 seconds to sign up on, due to my somewhat impatient, in some ways, nature.
I just extend my username digits to suit the forums' Terms of service, acceptability etc. My apathy dictates that this is the way I do it. Nothing exciting, nothing special or elaborate, for once I just get on with it, without procrastination...shockingly. Well, that's it.
