I've decided that making a 200 mile round trip every month to get medication is getting annoying and expensive so I thought I'd give registering with a GP in Birmingham another go. They told me to go get a letter from my doctor before registering and that they'd continue my prescription. So far so good.
I've been doing a work placement at my uni this summer and am starting my final year at uni in a couple of weeks (but need to be around uni from tomorrow onwards) so could only get home for 2 days. I was told I couldn't book an appointment in advance so I rang as soon as they were open in the morning and waited in a queue for half an hour to be told there were no appointments left for today and tomorrow but the duty doctor would phone and prepare a letter for me and do my repeat prescription review. The doctor rang and told me off like a child for leaving it so late. She didn't seem to listen when I said I'd been at uni all summer until today and then told me she wouldn't give me a letter and that because I'm an adult I shouldn't need medication. Seriously?!! Why does she think a 27 year old is having to return to uni in the first place?! After arguing with her she eventually agreed to give me a letter from 2 years ago but change the date but only when I told her that if I couldn't get medication in Birmingham I'd immediately register back here. She'd made it very clear she didn't want to deal with me.
Although she prescribed me a month's worth of pills, she didnt do my review so I can't get it on repeat prescription which now means if I have trouble in Birmingham, I won't be able to simply order from here whilst they sort things out for me.
Argh!
My actual GP is good and lovely but I can never get an appointment with her. This doctor today is nice but only when I need non-ADHD things. She becomes super rude when I bring up ADHD.
My mum has loads of squishy toy brains (long story) so I've just thrown them everywhere. That, and writing this rant has made me feel a little better. I just have to go pick them all up now and hope my new GP will prescribe as I don't want to screw up my final year.
