No word of a lie, I wake up every morning with a certain limit to how much agitation I can take during the day.
Last night was a mix of restless brain, followed by semi-conscious shopping list writing, followed by being wide awake after just three hours of uninterrupted sleep - managed another two hours after lying there for about half an hour, but no more after my neighbour slammed his front door at 8am.
Then I had to go shopping with my calmness waning rapidly. My umbrella blew inside out three times before I decided to just put it down; I managed to navigate ALDI without too much issue, but for the record, people really need to learn to control their kids, because there is no way that all those kids have behaviour disorders making them run riot like that. Also, parents need to not let their five year old children push shopping trolleys, over which they cannot see. It's dangerous at any time of year, and at this time of year it's also extraordinarily busy.
Then I had to go to Sainsbury's. What a nightmare.
People everywhere. Kids everywhere. Being rammed with trolleys because the old woman in front won't move no matter how many times you say 'excuse me'. Small children walking about randomly, had an argument with a mother who told ME to watch where I was going when her child ran at me, barely even touched my shopping basket and still started screaming. The same child was later seen being bribed with sweets - that's when it stopped crying. I never knew children could be that manipulative because I'm pretty sure that was the whole point - creating an accident whereby the parent has to pay it just that bit more attention and reward it despite it having done nothing to warrant a reward of any sort.
I hate food shopping at this time of year. It's even worse this year because my mum doesn't finish work until Wednesday evening so I've got to do all the food shopping by myself. I normally do all the food shopping throughout the year, but she normally helps me at Christmas because there's so much to carry. But she got a new job a couple of months ago after the company she used to work for closed down, so she has different hours and different holidays to what she's had for the last four or five years. At least she bought all the heavy bottles and jars when she did an online shop a couple of weeks ago, so I don't have all that to contend with. I don't drive, so I wouldn't have been able to carry all the bottles, even over several trips out.
I came home and spent an hour sat on the kitchen floor before I even contemplated putting the shopping away. No frozen food luckily.
God help me, I've still got to go out on Wednesday for eggs, salmon, potatoes and barmcakes. And possibly mushrooms.
Should be fun. NOT.
I wanted to watch Raiders Of the Lost Ark this aft, but I can barely concentrate on getting letters in the right order the first time I try, let alone a film that's on for almost two hours.
