Is there a known reason why they are decommissioning the Adult Service in Wiltshire?

Hi Bee, You don't have to wait until March to find out what's going on. You can ring the Wiltshire Patient Advice Liaison Service (PALS) on Monday. Here is their number 0300 123 2103 You have the right to be seen at an NHS ADHD Service. Public sector services (e.g. NHS) have a legal duty to not discriminate Do you mean that Adults have the right to be seen by an Adult ADHD Service? If so, there aren't any dedicated Adult services in Northern Ireland... does that mean an Adult in Northern ireland can wish to be referred to England or elsewhere? I'm wanting to explore this idea

Brilliant JJ - be fab to see Kathymel again petra ? i know it's a long way for most people (and about 4 miles from me, so no doubt i'll be the last to arrive) but a rare opportunity 350 odd miles or so for me! Still on the waiting list though Those who know that they cannot go should definitly cancel their attendance on the Eventbrite system ASAP in order to allow others the oppurtunity.

I only just found out recently on the 10th December via an email from AADD-UK... wish I had known about it sooner otherwise I would have had it booked. I am from Northern Ireland, we have a lot of ambition and drive to bring Northern Ireland into the Adult ADHD scene in the mainland, after all it should be a national effort. A few of us from the charity I volunteer at want to go... but for now.. we are just on the waiting list. Completely gutted as I am not optimistic about getting tickets Shame really as we would love to bring Northern Ireland representation to the conference and network with you all

As an attempt of spreading the information about ADHD and especially ADHD in Adults within Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK: I'm taking a seminar at CA SG (Comber Autism, Aspergers and ADHD support integration group) all about ADHD including Adult ADHD and various issues surrounding it. If you are interested in getting yourself educated on ADHD and would like to learn more about it as well as how to get help if you know someone with the disorder, and the stigma surrounding it, anyone and everyone is welcome on Thursday 14th August @ Comber SERC, Park Way, BT23 5AR 7:00PM-9:00PM to the event. There will of course be a tea/coffee break. For more information on this event which will cover all aspects of ADHD and the problems that Adults face when trying to obtain a diagnosis within the UK health services, please follow the URL below. **Everyone is welcome** **Tea/Coffee** **Learn about ADHD** **Debunk the myths** **Understand it** www.facebook.com/events/279445965572211/Many thanks

It is actually even worse than has been explained above. Adderall is now out of Shire's patent protection, so Shire no longer has a protected market for it. Due to recent EU legislation because Adderall is comprised of four seperate chemicals, each chemical would need to be independently tested! So not a chance of a business case for licensing. The unique effect that Adderall has is based on it having four different amphetamine salts in it (amphetamine aspartate; amphetamine sulfate; dextroamphetamine saccharate (dexedrine); dextroamphetamine sulfateactually). The dextroamphetamine is more potent, but the (levo)amphetamine has a greater physiological effect (e.g. cardiovascular), a quicker and longer clinical effect and impacts nor-adrenaline for a better motivational effect for many than Ritalin or Dexedrine/Vyvance. So sadly a unique medication used by the majority of Americans will never be available in the UK. A real shame. You can get it privately for a cost of around £8/pill, for many they need 2 pills a days so that's an annual cost of around £7,000 including 12 consults. Not cheap. regards Andrew Hi Andrew, its good to know these things. Would you be aware as to why we do not have the dexamphetamine spansules/dexamphetamine extended release in the UK? I understand we have had Elvanse since August 2013, however, it was effective for innatention and everything else for a few hours (30mg dose) however, it lost effectiveness around 1pm (if taken at 08:00AM) and after seven hours (08:00AM +7hrs) I would be experiencing extreme stomach pain which would extend right through to the lower back which manifested as back pain which meant that I could not sit comfortably or lie comfortably in bed trying to ride it out. The strong pain from this stressed me out a lot and was unbearable, it felt like acid was buring through my stomach. However, I have to say, Andrews Liver Salts were a god send! It was the only thing that provided me with relief from the stomach pain, rennies or gaviscon didn't do a thing, probably because they did contain sodium bicarbonate.... Anyways, I had tried Elvanse for a reasonable period of time to see if this side effect would dissapate, however, it didn't, ever, and the stress (deadlines looming and stomach pain every late afternoon and into the evening as a result of the Elvanse) was gradually getting to much and prevented me from getting things done also. This is why I ask about the Dexedrine Extended release spansules that are available in the USA but not over here in the UK.... It doesn't make any sense considering it is the same drug only with a different release mechanism. I am curious to know why this might be. Thanks Andrew

I'm glad someone is making effort! Pm if you whish. Sent from my GT-I9300 using proboards I have no idea how to PM on this!! I think I have found a few people from Northern Ireland on this forum and I have followed them! But I don't know how to PM THEM :/ I have been to the ADD NI support meetings and I have a feeling that some users on this have been to it too. There was one fella from the support meeting said he was on the forums but I missed my chance to get speaking to him. I think I know his first name but I don't want to mention it on here incase I cause a problem

Hi everyone!
My name is Andrew and I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was eight years old. I have struggled with ADHD all of my life but have ensured that I have maintained an insight into how it affects me, partiularly innatention but also socially, I also have an anxiety disorder also.
I am now nineteen years old and want to get all Adults with ADHD in Northern Ireland together to form a support community and see what we can do to move the situation forward. I know a consultant psyhiatrist within UKAAN (UK Adult ADHD Network) and I am meeting with Dr Martel who treated me in Northern Ireland here when I was younger. I am meeting with him to ask about how the best way to push for Adult ADHD services in Northern Ireland.
I am also in contact with ADD-NI, and recently in contact with Phoenix ADHD Project. I also have a contact with Ladders of Life in Liverpool.
Anyone on this page feel free to get in touch with me. Once I meet with Dr Martel I will know more about pushing Adult ADHD forward in Northern Ireland and hopefully we can arrange for as many as possible to meet up or somthing.
