Hi Guys,
I've heard back from one of my contacts about the funding for the Chinese project who heard it from the horse's mouth that the funding actually came from the pharmaceuticals industry.
My guess is that the pharmaceuticals wouldn't be able to spend money on a similar project over here due to funding restrictions, conflict of interest etc. And there are more people in China!
But it is a pity because while the funding does not appear to have come from the Government, nevertheless there is a cost to the Government, because the Scottish Government, and people with ADHD, lose out on his services to do the same thing within the NHS Scotland; and btw he is an NHS Scotland doctor.
Here in Bristol, we have a highly motivated doctor who chooses to only sees NHS patients, but has to struggle mightily for funding, and as a result can only keep the clinic open 2 days a week with no cover for the times she's not in.

So looks like my question was correct Roland when I asked if this funding had come through the pharma industry.
So wrong that people in the UK struggle to access services and have all these restrictions in place that prevents our health services accessing the pharma funding that may be available. Just disgusted!!!!

I have just received this information from The Honourable Jack McConnell MSP.
Colleagues in Research and Innovation Services have confirmed that the University of Dundee received the sum of £250,000 as a service to medicine from Shire Development Inc. of Pennsylvania, United States of America for the project entitled 'The development and implementation of a training programme to increase awareness and accurate identification of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in China'. The sum of £501,000, noted previously in a University press release, was inaccurate and has been corrected.
Im not sure why he sent me that, perhaps just to appease me by telling me it was F All to do with the government. Im sure Shire Pharma initially started in Dundee or is that another one?

Hi all
Just an update on this subject. As mentioned, I contacted David Cameron and received a response back today.
Dear xxxxx
I am writing on behalf of David Cameron to thank you for your recent e-mail.
As you can imagine, David receives many hundreds of e-mails each week and, sadly, he is unable to reply personally to everyone. However, I would like to assure you that all correspondence is carefully read and noted, and David is most grateful to you for taking the time and trouble to get in touch with him.
As the issue you raise is the responsibility of our Shadow Health Team, I am forwarding your e-mail to that Team so that they are also aware of these articles.
Thank you, once again, for writing to David.
So perhaps this may put some light on the article and answer some questions.
Honey xx
