WEEK 1 DECLUTTER Bin 27 items each day (1 point for each day this is achieved) Bag up 27 items to give away AND GIVE THEM AWAY each day (1 point for each day this is achieved) No complicated bits, if its not already in the bin and you bin it that's 1 point. If its something that comes together like sweet wrappers or set of chisels or chess board with pieces, that's one point for the set. If you're still not sure it's up to you to decide.

Hmmm ... might join in when I get home from uni this week. 27 things every day sounds like a challenge, but I do need to do it.

so does that mean ordinary rubbish that u normally throw away counts then - as long as its hanging around or on the floor and needs cleaning up - not like if you come in and open something and put it in the bin straight away?

I'd be saving things especially so I could count them before binning them. I use a 'loft rule'. - Go into a room and close the door
- throw everything moveable onto the floor
close the door and never enter again
- sort the objects into three piles
- 1)definitely keep
- 2)maybe keep
- 3)chuck away
3) is easy - especially if you have a garden/big yard to burn stuff in - yay pyromania ;D 1) find proper homes for the keepers 2) go medieval on the 'maybes' Ask yourself why you want to keep something - if yes, I need it regularly then promote it to list 1) If not regular ask yourself 'do I want to put it in the loft for a rainy day?' If it's not essential documents, christmas decorations, suitcases or anything else that comes back down again then it's rubbish you're hoarding SO THROW IT AWAY or burn it ;D YAY! Here endeth the lesson My loft? Stuffed full of stuff that never comes down - I lie awake at night fearing a ceiling collapse

Kathymel, that'd be cool ( as long as your really messy ) Janev, yep that exactly what I meant but couldn't think of how to put it that clearly x Planetdave, that'd had me in stitches ;D, can't take on any of the advice at the moment cause keep wetting myself laughing every time I get to the funny bits. My partner was always panicking in our old place that the ceiling was going to come down. He's made it really difficult for me to get into the new one without his help, what he doesn't know is I have recently found a way

If you binned 27 things and found 27 things to give away that's 2 pts.
Would be nice to hear how you struggled later on :-D

And what do points make?
Prizes!
And what do you do when you've got 27 prizes?
Chuck 'em out and collect 1 point...

Why 27? Is it magic?
|
|
|
Post by li0nberries on Feb 25, 2013 20:13:52 GMT
No, the magics all about janev's bowing down to my superior domestic goddessness . And maybe kathymel too ;D. No idea why 27, just got it from the flylady sight? The competition is to help us stop reading and start doing. Helping janev get to grips with humility is just a bonus

;D got to keep you on your toes you being so competitive an all (I think humility is over rated ) this was such a good idea, i'm getting right into it, was knackered today but couldn't think about anything else - was a buzz. (told you I had a sad life eh!) Found the rubbish bit pretty straight forward as my place such a mess at mo but thats all the obvious rubbish gone today -gonna be harder tomorrow! giving stuff away was harder - and felt like I was cheating cos about ten of the 27 was books - which made it easier. Hard part was forcing myself up the charity shop as natural inclination was to leave it all by door to take tomorrow cos was late by then and was *ucking freezing out! annoying as well cos just had to do it even though this is a virtual world (sort of) and you wouldn't know any different couldn't just lie and say i'd done it even though was a right pain and didn't want to trapse up there with my pensioner trolley but thats part of my personality and its really annoying !! Looking forward to tomorrow and also hopefully start to see a difference cos can't really notice much difference here yet as its such a state! How was it for you?

I've got it easier cause just got to stick it in my sisters car as no charity shops in walking distance and don't drive Wouldn't say found it fun, tortuous would be more apt, cause this med isn't working yet and it took me all day but really glad got the competition cause I'd have given up without giving anything away. When I do these things I can't believe how shite I am at staying on track! I also can't wait to start seeing a difference, already my fridge smells nicer or less bad cause one of the things I binned was the mouldy cream I've had in there since Xmas and for some reason not got round to chucking out I would definitely class books as one each. I love mine, even the ones I don't read and probably never will ;D Am already planning tomorrow, in the hope it won't take all day. My worse half p'd me off cause he's got loads of stuff I could easily throw or give away but he was having none of it. Humph. Don't knock the humility till you've tried it Look forward to helping you with that soon ;D ;D ;D

Never thought I'd say this, but thank god for my eldests bomb site of a bedroom. 27 things binned, nearer a billion if you count all the various life forms that went out with the actual rubbish!

wow when u move u move eh! know what you mean - need a tetnus injection before dare enter my girls room - (she's the only person I know thats worse than me!) I found its getting harder today - giving away my books is a wrench! iv'e got stronger bonds with my books than I have with my daughter at mo also find it so hard to go in charity shop and walk out without buying anything! And know for sure i'm weird now cos why oh why do I find it so hard to let go of batteries that are dead?? plastic take away containers and the lids?? empty boxes?? carrier bags?? All sorts of useless pieces of wood?? Anyway, day 2 done and still not seeing a difference roll on tomorrow (and my lesson in humility ) xx

Omg! Carrier bags, I know and bits of wood/ random branches and take away containers and empty boxes! Typical, I just start to bin the stuff AFTER I finally find someone that understands! You are sowing just how much humility you need ( LOTS in case you're feeling thick skinned :-) ). Don't you worry, my house will be decluttered to the point of minimalism, if only to help you. I am clearly the Tortoise, Hairy ;-) xxx

;D DONE - including 3 pairs jeans in carrier bag that have been moved here there and every where for about 8 years as need zip and button fixing - and be lucky if could fit them over one leg now! does your silence today mean your being run ragged by your 2 and 4 legged clan? ---- or are you conceding defeat ?
