This can be a side effect of stimulants as they're vasoconstrictors. However, both equasym and concerta are long acting methylphenidate - the only difference between them is the delivery system which releases the drug slowly - so I'd find it surprising if it was just due to equasym and ok on concerta (that's what I inferred from what you wrote). Hi, I'd surprised to hear you say that Equasym is slow-release, as I was prescribed 2 tablets to be taken twice per day. Only the XL is slow-acting, as with Medikinet, which is also available in both forms. Hope this isn't the wrong thread - first time on here. :&

Hi
Equasym is only made in a long acting version (it's called "modified release" on Shire's website). It used to be also available in instant release, but was stopped some time in 2012/13 . Equasym has a different release mechanism to concerta and its active hours are shorter (from memory without checking, equasym lasts for 6-8 hrs), which is perhaps why you've been told to take doses twice a day.
Medikenet is available in both long acting and instant release versions. 🙂
