I spoke up at a discussion during choir and my view prevailed. Just had email to say that person whose views I was supporting is greatly relieved.
One very strong minded but waffly person was going round in circles. She was hijacking other peoples contribution. I eventually put my hand up and said "I have something to say, can you let me say it wihtout interrupting me...... I know I am a new boy in this choir but I feel X doesnt seem right .....this would put too much stress on person Y (not present)". Most of the other people siad they would tend to agree with me. Sorry if I am not explaining this very well - it was a complicated discussion.

I am suprised and amazed by my productivity today. Firstly, I spent 2.5 hours doing home admin which I've previously left undone - a mix of no capacity and a lack of motivation. In 90 mins I wrote/printed/signed/enveloped/stamped/copied & filed (!) copies for 2 difficult letters, a covering note sending unused train tickets for refund and an application form - with deposit cheque I set up a pending file and put copies of things awaiting responses I ploughed through a pile of emails, rang the bank to check some details and pay an invoice, calculated my annual gas/electicity usage, compared it to last year and decided it was a waste of energy (!) to moan at the supplier for putting up my direct debit and consciously let it go I spent 30 mins reviewing/planning/prioritising project work, then stopped and did 30 mins yoga stretches before beginning to work through my project inbox. After an hour I stopped and had something to eat, and Only Then did I let myself browse online for 30 mins. have i been cured, or has someone stolen my brain?

Started to listen and sing to music again (this was more depression related than ADHD, but depression is related to ADHD anyway)

i said no to something! despite my inclination to want to fix it and do everything, i listened to my body and said it wasn't possible. and when i was asked "are you sure? because we said y would follow x", i surprised myself by standing firm with "yes, that was before we were asked to do z. and z will do more than y in a creative way. i'm glad we're doing z. let's look forward to thnking about y next term" I think i may have become a Grown Up

Three things I have achieved/ I'm achieving in one swoop:
* I've organized all my travel and accommodation for a holiday to Manchester a whole 2 and a bit weeks before the day!
* On this holiday I'll be meeting with a group of writers (who I know from fb) that I've never met before, thus challenging my anxiety, boundaries and preconceptions that people automatically find me strange and dislike me.
* On the holiday I'll also be staying with my high school best friend who I haven't seen for nearly 2 years (and then, only for a quick meal together). The same friend who I've been a shitty friend in return to - forgotten to write letters back, not returned phonecalls, not said hello via fb chat etc. Taking some positive steps towards repairing our relationship!

I made a cake!!! i don't make cakes. occasionally i make biscuits, cookies or flapjacks; once or twice i've made scones, but not cakes. maybe one or two in 25 years? but somehow i managed to make a lemon cake and it's delicious AND it's gluten-free, diabetic-friendly, vegetarian-friendly, dairy-free - and it needed to be all of those Maybe THAT was the challenge i needed to get me baking. shame it all took 5.5 hours, including an hour to clean the kitchen and wsh up. and then i was so relieved to have finished i forgot about the glaze in the fridge and it had gone hard in parts and runny in others... all fine now. nothing to see. it tastes yummy. go me

I have added one recipe to my file of simplified recipes. I tend to find recipes in books or online are too verbose and I dont read them.

i baked another cake - 2 cakes in 2 weekends - chocolate with a chocolate fudge sauce, cut into 16 (teeny) squares, topped with a slice of strawberry. nobody complained at either the size or the taste, so clearly i am getting away with pretending i can bake unfortunately it was procrastination for something more important, but gotta count those successes where you can

today i have been stuck at home becos of the marathon, but with a little planning have turned it into a lovely day doing things that make me feel good... i have read in bed, done an hour of meditation, done an hour of gentle yoga stretches in the sunshine, coloured my hair and made an apple & ginger chutney with the last of the stored apples from the autumn (before my tree was coppiced ) i feel fabulous, and not a tv or a distraction or a procrastination in sight! i actually set goals and stuck to them ps fingers firmly crossed purplepower xx Did you not fancy rugby-tackling them as a protest as they went by?

this week i baked cake number 3 - chocolate & coconut with a chocolate ganache, topped with halved strawberries... the ganache (my 1st Ever) was made from avocado (weird but it worked) so the whole thing was vegetarian, diabetic-friendly, low carb, sugar- dairy- and gluten-free and it tasted like proper cake it was a surprise birthday cake for someone i don't know v well, but would be in a meeting on his birthday. and it seemed like a therapeutic bit of procrastination when i was struggling to write a project paper. turned out the guy i'd made the cake for is diabetic, and this is the first time in years that he's been given a birthday cake he can eat. result! and a really good reason to bake inclusive cakes

The bathroom has been cleaned. The kitchen has been cleaned. The rats' cage has been cleaned.
I have eaten food and made it to evening without a headache. I gave medication another chance.

Volunteered myself for a film festival and I have managed to turn up for all of my times, just one stint left to go. Trusting myself to turn up is a big deal for me.

Paid a bill.
Filled in an important form that I've had for over a week and put it in an envelope - now I need to post it.
