Filled in an important form that I've had for over a week and put it in an envelope - now I need to post it. Use inline skates to make it more fun! ...and try to post it at speed! I just sat in a chair for an hour being mindful. Mostly about how how surprisingly hyperactive my body was while on meds (I thought I was a lot calmer). Still quite a good experience!

I remembered to take something out of the freezer for the evening meal. First time in 30 years. Yippee.

I felt really, really swamped with everything seeming impossible but didn't panic. instead did some mindful meditation, then a bit of distracted yoga, and folded some towels to get the brain focused. somehow i've plugged away all day despite lack of brain - 20 mins plus 10 min break, then 30 mins...an hour. now feel as tho I have moved a mountain... or at least carved out a teensy bit of a path to start following

managed to get a complicated piece of admin/writing done that i'd been avoiding... got myself to play recorder for 15 mins, then do the writing for 15 mins. i ws going to finish it tomorrow, expected it to take 4-5 hours over 3 sessions. funnily enough, once i'd got started i didn't stop and finished the whole thing in one go. took about 3 hours. now i can review / edit tomorrow before emailing round, rather than feeling under pressure to make them "perfect" in one day. i feel as tho i have nonchalantly walked on water, and made it look easy

Had an appointment with my new GP and she's really nice and prescribed my medication straight away, didn't tell me I was too old for it or question my diagnosis or anything! Yay for no more 200 mile round trips to get Concerta, booking trains, and having to remember to order things on the phone or ask my parents to collect things for me! That was such an ADHD unfriendly way of having to do things! Not to mention expensive! I don't think I even have to go see a local pyschiatrist! Such a relief because I don't think I'd cope with my final year at uni without medication!

Was able to meet a hugely important deadline that involved a lot of work. It actually made me leave this place for a short while until I felt my meds were giving me enough focus to not get distracted too much. So it's both a success for me meeting the deadline, I was even a day early, as well as a resoundingly successful test to see if my meds do what I need them to do.

I came into work today, the prospect of a lot of computer input work that I do not normally have to do came up. I thought it would take me at least a whole day. I did it in two hours.

I fished the elderberries out of the freezer & put them to marinade; I sewed a popper onto the handbag I knitted/sewed over the last couple of weeks & wrapped it; I fished the rosehips out of the fridge and made 18 little bottles of rosehip syrup... I am utterly amazed at my ability to finish half-done jobs, and stickability - go me

Well done contrarymary! I wish I could finish some of my half-started projects :/ My positive thing is that after FIVE reminders I've finally remembered to fill in my 'register to vote' form with my new name I've also remembered to update my married name with the DVLA, HMRC AND my bank I'm getting there!!

yesterday i labelled the bottles of elderberry vinegar and the bottles of rosehip syrup which have all been cluttering up my kitchen surfaces for 2 weeks. (tho now they're on sitting room table... ) AND i began to think about a talk i'm doing on thursday, 4 days ahead!!! this morning i was at an event & had a series of proper Grown Up socially skilled conversations - mostly, I think then i went wool shopping to match up for a half-finished knitting project (a commission!)which has a deadline of next weekend... and took along the "client"/friend to choose colours, which cheered him up on the way home i went shopping for emergency food bits and a few treats for my mother & "dropped by" for an unscheduled visit to cheer her up (it's a challenging journey and i have low energy) i got home and actually took my coat off/unpacked my bag before getting stuck on the laptop and i didnt' get overwhelmed or grumpy today, except once. tho i may have talked too much sometimes. but i'm not beating myself up about it. more good than not, and some stuff to learn from that's meditation for you

This top three thing is going well actually.
Got my top 2 things done today.
Got my top 2 yesterday done too.
And the left-over ones that didnt get done get moved onto the top three list for the next day. Simples!
It may be baby steps but I'm well chuffed with myself, a sense of achievement and order.

I'm doing Slimming World, so cooking can be a massive challenge at times when motivation isn't plentiful However, today I sent myself to the kitchen to try out a new recipe. Baked oats turned into something along the lines of blueberry muffins. It was great! Scoffed the lot, lol.

I did washing up two days in a row! I did half yesterday, and half today! Normally it's a triumph if I do the washing up two WEEKS in a row! This is on top of working 12 hour nights feeling quite proud of myself lol. Nevermind the fact it's probably only happened because I've got some nvq work due in on Weds which I've had 6 weeks to do and I've done nada... I'll do it on Tuesday

Organised myself to get some blood tests to check my thyroid function. I have Graves disease which is an auto-immune disease that makes my thyroid become hyperactive. I want nothing to do with Strattera, mostly because it is an accumulative effect and I do not want to be taking these meds unless I have to. I didnt realise that taking Strattera, there was no day off. SO anyway (tangents as usual) I asked the specialist to prescrbe me something else and he went for Ritalin Extended Release. Cant remember the dosage. Cant take Ritalin with an over-active thyroid - its a contraindication. My thyroid came back functioning normal - the exact words were "perfect"!! So now I made a new appointment for thursday when I will discuss getting a thorough check up before taking Ritalin. Things are looking up in general, I'm getting lots of help from all angles. I would say to anyone to look at and avail of any and all help that is available to you, charities that deal with mental health may have a reduced fee yoga class, art classes, access to a counsellor just to vent - (not ADHD therapy). Access for people with disabilities (not just ADHD but physical and mental) can range from informed advice and how to advocate for yourself as a person with a disability.
