My usual PMS consists of two weeks of crankiness Heavens to Betsy... that's 6 months in every year of crankiness! I wish I hadn't thought of it like that... And I wish you hadn't put it like that.... It's worse depending on diet (meat=bad) and since I'm generally very cranky when not on meds maybe it wasn't the pms? 6 months... shite...

It's simple for me: The Ritalin works ---> proof that it is indeed ADHD

voted "something else" because for now I'm taking "as needed", up to 40 mg Ritalin per day. Most days all four doses are needed, but I might skip some if I'm couch-and-tv-bound.

27, only a couple of months ago and I'd probably still be uselessly treated for depression and adjustment disorder if I hadn't changed psychiatrists and by chance ended up at about the only adhd expert in all of Vienna ^^
the psych before that heard the words "my father died" and immediately jumped to "adjustment disorder". thanks very much - not.

Odat, my PMT went into overdrive when I first started taking meds - it took a few months and now i have pinned down to the day, and try and organise around it - I dont get as grumpy but i feel like a normal day without meds - confused/slurred speach/unintelligent etc mizmog, do you still take your meds during PMS or do you stop for those days? If I feel like I haven't taken meds during that time is there a point in taking them?

My first PMT on Ritalin and boy do I feel awful. No additional symptoms but it feels like a super whack of a very bad ADD day without meds and my normal PMDD issues. I can't be like this every month. It's awful. Any suggestions on what other ladies have done would be appreciated. I don't have the book mentioned above. I am so relieved it's not just me! My usual PMS consists of two weeks of crankiness, breast pain etc. Then I cut down on the meat this month and upped my soy intake and I was so much better in the second half of my cycle. Last week I started on Ritalin and I really had the best week ever. Got lots of shit done - all peachy. Then, two days ago, suddenly it's all dooooooom! glooooooom! world ending! I can barely get anything done, no focus whatsoever. I'm nauseous, have none of my usual cravings, in fact a lack of appetite instead and can only stomach jelly doughnuts (good thing shrovetide started and they are readily available ) I read somewhere that the hormonal change keeps the meds from working and I'm beginning to believe that. I bought some omega III capsules and a vitamin b/folic acid complex today and am going to try that. next month I might start taking them in the middle of my cycle. and exercise more. ah yes, I also take Cipralex/Lexapro, only 2.5 mg and only every second day - it's kind of a leftover from when they thought I had depression. Is it just the Ritalin or does anyone of you have that issue with other drugs as well?

I did so well last week since I started taking the Ritalin. And now for two days I've done basically nothing but be hormonal :/ I hate this time of the month. Faced with PMS my Ritalin just goes "Huh? Me? I'm not working today."

Direct debit for almost everything. And for the rest my wife helped me implement a system: both of our post goes on the window sill in the hall, and when I work through my to do box (which ideally I should be doing once a week) I go through the post as well. Okay, so we only implemented the system two weeks ago so I haven't done that yet, but monday morning I will take my meds and get right on it
