I think it's time you visited citizen advice.
You need supported in the work place by a agency who helps people with disabilities. Someone who knows what they are dealing with disability employment law and regulations.
If you have Adhd you probably will have mental health issues & an form of a orther condition of some sort.
Which covers you for disability discrimination legislation.
I went 20 years of my working life unsupported in the workplace. 20 years of harassment by my employers & fellow workers who thought I was stupid, thick and didn't care! Fool them. I mean it best thing I ever done.

I just wanted to say that you are lucky you have a centres dotted across Scotland, England & Wales even though it may be you have to travel to it.
I'm in northern Ireland. I was tested by a psycharictist whom was the head of the department I think I was undiagnosed due to the reason it would cost them money to treat me. Which is not fair when I have all the hall marks. Dyslexia, anxiety, depression etc.
The adult support group isn't much better as you know yourselfs there's more funding for the children.
It's taken 4 Year's to get this far.
Was tested private for dyslexia went to GP asked if they could do anything was told after him checking out that he couldn't as it's up to schools I'm 38 well out of the school system.
It was the educational psychologist suggested that I could well be Adhd and I should get checked out (orther words I'm willing to take your money).
Then had to fight with CMHT to get referred to a psycharictist who was reluctant to test me for anything other than anxiety.
Anyhow I'm waiting currently on a 2nd opinion I'm just waiting on the psychiatrist phoneing me for a chat.
I'm not bothered about being Adhd but it's more the fact that there's medication there that could make a difference. After all just the same as everyone else I have paid into Sent from my GT-I9300 using proboards

About my DX? Thats so last week lol!! Na the way I see it they didn't want to DX me cause it would cost them money. Plus it's an ordinary psychiatrist that was DX me with no specialist centre in this wee country of ours that's what we have to put up with. I don't think they can see want difference it would make if I were medicated. It's like saying you have high blood pressure but you can control it by diet and exercise. That's what basically what they said you have had your cbt, you're working Part time & your on antidepressants for your anxiety. But today's issue is worse I'm just outta work at 1,30 I'm heading home to bed I'm that lurthergic it's been raining here for 3 days. I do a bit of cycling haven't done a thing all week I have just hit rock bottom just about to go & get some Cadburys chocolate. Heading home for bed. Sent from my GT-I9300 using proboards

Wow let them have it girlfriend, arrogant know it all mental health professionals are parasitic and cruel, they lap up the team gossip, free biscuits and kudos but live in their own tightly constructed deluded nests of outdated knowledge and corrupt power over vulnerable people in need. Lowest of the low I'm not bitter lol but I was a mental health nurse for seven years so I know I'm talking the truth I think this is so true love the quote Sent from my GT-I9300 using proboards

Yea Kathmel that's right, he said so himself it's rare in his experience to treat an adult with Adhd inattention. It's the follow up care it is hit & miss with the drugs they use . Blood pressure and ecg. That's what he said.
I went to the patient's council about it they said to challenge him ask him to refer you out of trust.
I have a sister-in law who is a paharmist in the local hospital she said herself that for every 100 people turn up with Conditions there's only enough money to treat say 60 of them.
So let's look at it like this; 100 people turn up with dyslexia Dysprixia inattention tendencies 20 are palmed off told it's anxiety interfering with there attention
20 of are mild cases, told they are depressed given antidepressants & 6 CBT sessions.
The rest get treated with stims. That's how they save money!
It's just the same as my boss talking to me about being sufficient in my job & trying to reduce costs.
In the NHS case they just don't treat everyone unless you make a fuss. A fuss what I'm going to cause if he doesn't.

Yes finally got the letter to back to see the psychiatrist. Oh it's been a long hot summer.
Had my brain scan. Done my time with the psychologist who interviewed my mum and wife. She has already ready said that I'm easily distracted and I find it difficult to get back on track.
This could be the ticket! Even though he's gonna DX he has said that he will not treat me but I'm gonna contest it.
Watch this space!!

Funny JJ your not far off the mark lol:o
Your right to the point the last 18 months has been like that running from pillar to post there's been CMHT a psycharictist appointment every 6-8 weeks there's various forms of counselling cbt, general counselling, psychologist & employment support yes some of which I went on my own choice & some of which if I hadn't I it would've seen that I didn't want to move forward.
Oh & add the consent to & fro to the doctor's surgery.
I'm on antidepressants as it is I'm sure that the cost wouldn't be much more when you add in the rest what I have been through.
Had a chat today with my sister in law who is a paharmist in are local hospital she was telling me that they only have so much money to treat a percentage of people that turns with the conditions. So that would explain my theory just the same in my job my manager putting me under pressure to cut costs/time . It's the same way with the doctor's at the hospital being put under pressure from ward management to be saving money ie no overtime , out sourcing cleaning cheaper drugs foreign nurses & doctor's it goes on, most relevant to us they don't prescribe meds to people who they think they don't need them. Then throw in maybe a doctor who doesn't recognise Adhd in adults it just makes it harder never mind living in a trust were they don't have a Adhd specialist centre or any one experienced in it. Just relying on a psycharictist who is a where of it but maybe have no experience DX it.
Rant over. Sent from my GT-I9300 using proboards

Got my results it came back clear! I don't not what they were looking for really but we all know that a there's a difference in the way a dyslexics/Adhd brain works than a an ordinary persons works. I am still working with a psychologist she has done tests & confirmed that I am very easily distracted & find it difficult to get back on track. To some relief to me it means that I not making it up. She has requested a meeting with my wife & mother. She has said when that is done she will write the report and send it on to the psychiatrist who will then DX me. He has said to me that the trust in which I live in dnt normally treat an adult with Adhd inattention cause of the follow up after care . I have spoken to the patient's council about the issue. They suggested that whenever I'm DX see what he offers if he's going to prescribe that's ok but if he doesn't, challenge the situation through the patient's council. Basically ask to get referred to another psychiatrist in another trust that is going to prescribe. If I had asma they would give me a inhaler wouldn't they?? why should Adhd be any different??? So that's we're we are getting down to the fine end of the knife lol. Sent from my GT-I9300 using proboards

In Belfast we dnt even have a Adhd specialist we just have a psycharictist who understands the issues or has an interest in it. There's no such thing as a specialist centre either. I personally will have been on this trail 2years this September. CMHT then on to a psycharictist who didn't want to treat me I'm now attending psychology I been for a brain scan just hopefully pretty soon we will get to the bottom of it. Even at that I have had to push the issues & make complaints about the psychiatrist cause he just wasn't taking the interest he should. He even said himself that it's rear you get an adult with Adhd inattention & don't normally write prescriptions for it cause it's hit&miss with the treatment and the follow up care. Seems like I could have a orther fit on my hands.

Here thanks for asking I have sort if turn a corner I haven't gave up but I'm kinda thinking from what I see here it may not be a good idea to be medicated just seems to cause more frustration trying to find what works.
Psychiatrist has already stated that he's not happy to prescribe cause of the after care/follow up.
But I am going to ask him could we try being slightly medicated if there's such a thing.
But at the same time there's part of me is worried that I may not have Adhd at all cause I'm working with the psychologist I'm afraid of her writing a report & saying it's all in my head I'm making it up. Sent from my GT-I9300 using proboards

I can remember in primary school year 4 about age 8 sitting playing with a box of cars & staring out the window watching the gardeners cut the grass.
While the teacher & every one in the classroom got on with the lesson, this one of my first early memory's of being different.
Can also remember being accused of being lazy and the teacher saying she doesn't no how to get through to me.
I would think that there would be a lot could relate to this.
