If it helps, why not write down a blow by blow account of what happened? I've worked as an employment lawyer for 12 years and getting your side of the story clear as early as possible always helps. I'm not touting for business, just passing on experience.
On the OP I think nearly everyone lies and plays games. It's part of the human condition. I'm a bastard for it and especially enjoy playing with people who are up their own arse. I usually lay off the straight forward nice people though, i'm nice like that ;D

I came across this the other day
Although I'm not usually a classical music buff I have enjoyed some if it's in the context of a film. But anyway I liked this. Then it struck me, maybe I like this because it provides an extra channel of stimulation and so I don't get distracted.

Ever since I saw the wedding one I thought he had ADHD. imgs.xkcd.com/comics/names.png [/img] I always thought spinning plates would have been the best metaphor

I don't know how to stop it but I'm reading one of Russel Barclay's books and I think it's about poor executive function. I'll get back to you when I have a better idea.
FWIW I get the theme music from 'some mother's do ave em' amongst other things. It's called an earworm and neurotypicals get them too but probably not to the same degree.
Also I get in my head the stupid questions that this bloke used to ask whom I haven't spoken to in years. I think stress makes it worse.

You think, when you set off on a 240 mile journey with the 'onboard computer' reading 110miles, that you'll need to get petrol at a specific service station AT THE LATEST because the next one on the route will be 20 miles too far (yes, I do the drive fairly regularly). Miss the said services in a haze, spend the next 40miles panicking as the meter ticks down 5m at a time, and creep into the service station i should never have made it to with 0 miles in the tank because I was too stubborn to turn off the motorway to look for petrol. And it's not the first time you've done it... Bang on! ... and IF you've got a petrol can in the boot, it's empty!

If it wasn't for the procrastination, forgetfulness, poor organisation, crap time management, social awkwardness, shite memory, impulsiveness and dropping things before they're finished I'd say I feel sorry for the non-ADHDers.

Well done.
I didn't have a grieving period when I found out after a radio 4 programme last March.. more a relief really. In my last job I was misdiagnosed with recurrent depression unfortunately and now I'm self-employed.
I think the best thing to do now is point them to websites with info on ADHD. They are obliged to make 'reasonable adjustments' they have to come up with them not you but it would help you if you helped them. So things like minimising the routine in your job and emphasising the stimulation and variety would be adjustments. Less admin and more doing. It would also help if you told them whether you were diagnosed with inattentive, impulsive or combined type. I've done a lot of work in disability discrimination in the past so ask if you get jittery.
Who diagnosed you, out of interest?

I imagine there are thousands of novels about ADHD, all of them trailing off half way through chapter 1 though....

I read loads of stuff on walls when I'm waiting. Exactly! I read everything in sight! I thought the forums would be a good place to get ideas and, if there's any artistic people about a few designs might help get the ball rolling. I would have thought ADDISS would be the right people to publish and send off to GP practices.

Ok by poster I guess I should say leaflet or something designed to be put up on a notice board. They usually have loads of stuff like samaritans, cancer support group etc. so I thought something like that on a notice board with the other material is bound to be read by someone with ADHD eventually.

I've had an idea... if there are any graphic artists out there? What about a poster for doctors' waiting rooms? There are so many occurrences in the forums of 'if only I had known earlier..' that perhaps there just aren't enough people finding out about the condition including doctors. so something like: Are you easily distracted? Do you procrastinate? Poor short-term memory? Inattentive? Impulsive? Perhaps you have difficulty coping with routine tasks? You could have ADHD which affects 3 to 5% of the population. visit www.addiss.co.uk for more information.

I've been looking at CBT as well. The link livelifetothefull.com doesn't work though.
Hey timbo, where in Hants are you? I've had no luck with getting a competent psych on the NHS in Southampton.

I change sentence structure in mid flight. A classic was - Started as <female name> is my wife
- Changed to I am <female name>'s husband
- Came out as <female name>'s wife
A bit embarrasing .... Frequently I will stop mid sentence. Sometime people interrupt me at this time which is a real pain. I do that frequently or start a word then finish using another word from my internal thesaurus. Also I have conversations like this: "..... so anyway there was this bloke who looks like that actor, whathisname? you know he was in that film - shit - um he was in "Mission Impossible" "Simon Pegg?" "No. He was married to that Australian actress, he was in that film about the fighter pilots with that song that was in the charts, he's in some stupid sect..." "Oh, you mean Tom Cruise?" "Yeah. Tom Cruise. So what was I talking about? I've forgotten what I was talking about"

Instead of Bowie's 'Heros' when the GB team arrived, shouldn't they have played the Bennie Hill music. At least it would have been amusing to see if they would speed up and walk at high speed all over that mound thing.

I don't mind action films. I like films that allow my mind to explore the reality of it, good characterisaton and sci fi I guess are examples. Films with crap acting, naff predictable plot get me distracted too much. The Shawshank Redemption is probably the film I hate the most, I could predict every scene in the end.

I thought it was great. The only negative about it was the BBC commentary. I mean why do they have to commentate everything? I spent half the time shouting "STFU Hu Edwards" at the screen.

Chloe, the sidekick from the Film 'God Bless America' has ADD. Interestingly, she's very bright and sassy. Sort of a good and bad advert.
