ADDers are generally more highly sexed so it follows that we're probably a higher proportion of pervs. That's statistics, that is.

Hi peeps. Been doing medded life ok so a rare return visit. I saw a BBC news article link: m.bbc.co.uk/news/health-23972137Interesting link between ADD and ear problems. I remember having my adenoids out at 6 over hearing and ear problems. that reminded me of an old thread on this site. It just shows that scientists and medics should listen to us more. Here`s the thread aadduk.proboards.com/thread/2654/prone-ear-infections

It's because only other nutters would put up with the likes of us.

I think you should phone up HR and tell them you're having difficulties with it and whether they can help you full-fill your obligation to complete the review.

Sometimes I can't get into a conversation because there are too many thoughts going on that I can't stop long enough on one of them to talk about it and even if I do it's so off the wall that no one understands.
Normal people seem to be able to talk about the same old trivia and themselves for hours which I find impossible without moving on to wild associations from what's being talked about to new and newer subjects. So I spend hours and hours on my computer and lose contact with some good people.

I went right up to 100 mg + of Mediknet and found the effect was barely there. I'm on Dex right now and am upping the dose to 45 mg a day. On 30 so far and it works fairly well on some symptoms. Certainly better than nothing.

Quick poll chaps/ladies: 1. Do you have a gut feel? Yep2. Do you trust it? often3. How often do you go along with it? often4. How often do you go against it to appease someone else? rarely, but that's complicated. I mean what does appease mean really? If my gut feel, for example, was that someone shouldn't do something and doing it would be really disastrous, how could I stop myself. I guess I have to really force myself to not interrupt, but i don't think i'm that impulsive and manage to listen to interesting people easily.

I've had 5s 10s and 20s I think Medikinet is just methylphenidate pure and simple, perhaps with a bit of lactose thrown in to make it stick together in a pill. Are you lactose intolerant? One of the funny things about the law concerning prescribing restricted drugs, I've found, is that the doc must write exactly what the dose is. eg: 1 x 5 mg + 1 x 10mg 3 times daily etc. i found this out a few weeks ago when my gp just prescribed what i should be given and the pharmacist (from Boots) sent me back to get it rewritten so i would ask your gp to prescribe you 5s and try seeing what works. i get hardly any side effects so I guess i'm lucky. I'm now on 3 x 25mg a day (that's one 5mg and one 25mg) it seems to be working great and my 'noise' and irritability have reduced considerably. i think my memory has improved although i socialise so rarely it's difficult to tell. If you keep forgetting to take your meds you could set your phone alarm (if you've got one) for the time of each med. I set mine for 9am, 1:30 and 6pm. My psych even suggested that I take 4 x 25mg so I'll have to change my phone alarm settings.

what's your dose?
I'm on 3 x 20mg and going up to 100 and no side effects apart from some loss of appetite.

A lot of it sounds like me in some relationships. Medication should help. Perhaps he should reconsider - maybe try another med. As Michael said if he won't help himself, there's little you can do.

Space is religion for geeks Is that an unsubstantiated assertion you proposed there? So presumably you'd say the same thing about other things beyond immediate experience: electricity? law? perhaps even adhd which produces the best geeks of course

I'm atheist to my marrow. I have been since I was 10
Space... you mean all that stuff beyond the atmosphere? I experience that as an extension of my understanding of physics and technology and the society which produces and distributes it. It's a non issue ... meh!

Hi Bigal
I can't remember where, but I read somewhere recently that ADHD brains burn more glucose. Not so much on meds. so that might have something to do with it. If I remember where i read it I'll stick up a link.

18 mg isn't much though? I'm on 45 a day ie 3 x 15 mg and the effect is still minimal. i'll see how 3 x 20 mg works out next week.

well done!
Law isn't a pushover. I got through it by sticking to the interesting stuff and keeping an eye on public policy rather than detailed rules, it just made sense even though I didn't know about ADHD

I haven't thrown out anything today. But I did go through another pile and threw out some papers I didn't need (about 5).
Well done you lot. Have you really got so much stuff that you can keep on chucking stuff out? I got rid of loads of books a year or so ago - a minor miracle so there's less to get rid of.

Just going to have this winge before I try to do some work … … you realise that the new bag you impulse-bought for uni (a satchel of such startlingly beautiful, scarlet spottiness that all who see it exclaim and desire it for themselves) doesn’t hold both your flask and laptop simultaneously. You manage to attach the flask to your bike frame and set off happily for the uni library. You then realise you are still wearing the muddy willies you walked the dog in, so return to change them (one padlock into the boat basin, another into the boat). Now in appropriate footwear, you set off again only to realise you have left your gloves on the boat when changing your footwear (one padlock etc … ). Managing to finally escape, you arrive at the library. On untying the flask you drop it on the floor. A brief shake confirms the worst, so you drop it into the nearest bin. Oh well, you think, at least I can buy some tea from the machine. You all know what’s coming next ... I forgot my purse. The next person who suggests ADHD is just an excuse for laziness gets punched. ;D Spot on. My neighbours are used to seeing me leave the flat, walk up the garden path, turn around, go back in, leave the flat, turn around, leave the flat, turn around....
