yeah I agree Trigger, I think learning disabilities people have a worse time than anyone else getting diagnosed with ADHD. Interesting comment about 75%. Maybe the meds for ADHD are more expensive, maybe the low I.Q. causes specialists to question if their brains would really benefit from the meds and whether its really worth spending that amount of money on them, which i think they would benefit, but I wonder if theres another reason other than ignorance of lack of training?? It does fustrate and annoy me the way learning disabilities automatically get prescribed cheaper older antipsychotics etc, though i do see some slight shifts and change in this, its too damn slow! I want to help these guys more, they deserve better than what the health system provides.

NEURO DIVERSITY ? Hey there, I am very open to everyone regarding my ADHD, for me, I would rather this than people think Im rude, don`t care, not interested in what they are saying, childish, brain dead maybe a druggy, can`t speak properly, can`t remember anything cause im stupid, trouble maker, impatient, irritable with them, don`t like them, scatty, silly, daft, neurotic cause I disapprove of them, bad tempered, I think they are unclean or untidy, I think they are stupid, uneducated, not brought up properly, attention seeking, self obsessed, bored, no drive or ambition, wierdo due to rocking tapping fidgeting, not respectful of them, greedy, not enjoying music due to the volume, lazy as Im tired from crowded places or walking out and about, stressy as I cant bear to be trapped or have people stand too close to me, etc etc.... one simple explaination is soooo much easier. Im releaved I got diagnosed with ADHD, its not just about ourselves as individuals anymore, we need to be out and okay with who we are, we owe it to each other and for change. Change is up to us, it won`t happen if we dont change attitudes towards ourselves no one else will, its hard I know but don`t think of ADHD as you as an individual, its all of us, here on ADD-UK! Yeah! POWER TO THE PEOPLE!! YEAH!! MAKE SOCIETY CHANGE!! :-)

Hey there ditzynerd, I feel your pain! I too felt isolated, is there a support group near you or is that a silly question? I live in Brighton and was travelling to London for support, until i plucked up the courage to set my own group up, its looking a success, so I encourage anyone out there with no support to set there own group up, it has really improved my confidence and now I believe society needs to change not me lol, glad you found this forum, its truely great! I was considering joining an Autistic or Aspergers group until I went to the ADHD support group in Central London, but I still think this is worth anyone considering, I work with Autistic Adults and feel more a kinship with them than other so called socially functioning people. Keep chatting on here. Take it easy.

P.S. If this is the case Trigger, the fact that this is effecting your health makes it simple if you need to get out of your situation, if you get what i mean?

hi trigger, (my attention drew to this post as I know a tigger) Why have I only just read this post, where have I been? lol This clearly is no laughing matter, not even for inappropriate I. Hmmm where do I start, and dare I start, as everyone reads this forum these days, even my employers, bless them ;-) I am also a support worker for learning difficulties and challenging behaviour and love my job, probably due to being on the same spectrum with ADHD. Luckily I am not on probation but I have a permanent full time contract, although today bizarrely I went to see Occupational Health, I see your concerns with being on a probationary period. My advice to to get advice from C.A.B. I cannot give anymore info than this Im afraid, but feel free to private message me. Good luck. Be strong.

I have OCD ADHD GAD! Im collecting letters after my name! Twix is correct routine does help deal with important stuff due to terrible memories ADHD causes, If we didnt develop OCD nothing would get done!! Some OCD traits turn up when your memory is particularly bad and its the fear of forgetting stuff, and needing some sort of control in your head so stuff controls you! I know quite a bit about OCD unfortunately as I was surrounded by it as a child, but I don`t think my traits are too obvious or too bad, but its definately not something to worry about as worrying will only make it worse. Unless rituals are getting in the way of everyday life, don`t worry too much, its a coping strategy that you obviously need. Take things in at your pace, you seem to be on a path of self awareness, its not all bad, this self awareness will lead to a better understanding of your brain and then you can learn how to deal with stuff and move forward. Good luck! :-)
